Restored Esteem

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Hebrews 10:35-36.

Kendi's Hope*

Kendi often roams the streets in his city, a ball of plastic bags tucked under his arm, dreaming of the day when he could be the star of Zimbabwe's national soccer team. His coaches certainly think he's good enough. His father certainly does not.

Kendi, once a passionate athlete and hardworking student, suddenly became disinterested - his dreams and self esteem shattered by the lack of his father's support. A RiverCross Champion at his school noticed the change in Kendi's demeanor, teaching him breathing exercises to regulate self and methods of processing his emotions. At the same time, Kendi's soccer coach connected with his father, inviting him to watch a match and see his son's talent for himself.

Praise be to God that there has been restoration in Kendi's relationship with his father who now supports his dreams and encourages him to share his emotions, on and off the field.
