A Bridge Away from Bitterness
Zoan's Hope*
Zoan was raised under the sound of his father's curses. Hardly a night would pass without hearing doors slammed or his mother's muffled crying through the bedroom wall. Zoan's father was always angry, and his mother always wounded.
Zoan was 14 when he arrived on the doorstep of a children's home with a broken arm and a bitter heart. He was a child devoid of hope and disillusioned with love. Natine, a RiverCross Champion and caretaker at the children's home, began praying over Zoan, sharing the word of God and hoping for a breakthrough in his bitter spirit. Natine saw Zoan's brilliance and work ethic in his studies and knew he could lead a successful life if only he let go of the hurt and resentment that was holding him back, keeping him stuck in the cycle of vulnerability.
Natine holds out hope for Zoan's future, writing,
So I thank God for the RiverCross training that I have learned how to be patient with him, knowing that the BRIDGE is in place and as time goes by, Zoan and I are walking over it. So I thank God that Bridge to Freedom opened for me a new chapter that I can share with Zoan, the other children, and all new rescues that we may have in the times to come.
