A Story About Me

Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, "Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah? They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
John 4:28-30.

Friday night slumber parties at the children's home where Bisa stays consists of pizza, soft drinks, cookies, and episodes of RiverCross audio dramas. This episode in particular detailed the story of orphaned sisters who were sent to live with relatives who mistreated and exploited them, before escaping to a safe house.

When the episode ended, Bisa was stunned. She stood up, silencing the rest of the girls who were chattering about the episode. "What this story is about, is my story. I've never heard a story about me."

Everyone knew Bisa had been abused. When she first came to the children's home she'd been extremely malnourished. The scars on her wrists and ankles were still visible from where her grandfather used to tie her down. She still hardly spoke, despite receiving care for her physical pain.

Praise be to God Bisa has continued to listen to RiverCross audio dramas with her caretaker, stories that are helping her process her trauma. Bisa's bridge to freedom will be long, but she is taking steps and trusting God to use her story to help others, just like the RiverCross stories have helped her.
