On The Other Side Of Addiction
Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Sahel's Hope*
What do you think about when you open your eyes in the morning? What stays on your mind as you go about your day? For a long time, drugs were Sahel’s only priority, the thought of the next high was his only concern. But after getting connected with the RiverCross team in his town, Sahel has begun the difficult process of overcoming his addiction.
Although Sahel has made incredible progress overcoming his struggle with substance abuse, he has now encountered the unexpected struggle of rebuilding his reputation and learning who he is without the influence of drugs. With the support of RiverCross trainers, Sahel has learned the importance of developing his story to understand who he was, who he is, and everything that happened in between.
For the first time in his life, Sahel is processing the trauma that led him down the road of addiction, and is learning to see God’s hand of protection throughout his life, even in the midst of his darkest moments. Sahel, still on his journey, now shares his story with groups of students to warn about the dangers of substance abuse, and gives his testimony as an example of how to find purpose on the other side of addiction.
