In many African communities, children carry stories that no one sees. Some stories hold loss, others carry fear. But many stories include trauma that settles deep in the child’s heart.
Without safe, trusted caregivers, that pain often has nowhere to go and stays hidden—shaping how children see themselves, their relationships, and their future.
Every child deserves to be treasured in their community and transformed by the love of Jesus.
Caring for vulnerable children begins by equipping the caregivers already in their lives with the training, resources, and dignity they need to help those children thrive.
And that’s where you come in.
You Help Equip the Right People in the Right Places
Rooted in the belief that God has already placed the right people in the right places to care for children in distress, our strategy centers on equipping trusted local leaders with the tools and training they’ve asked for, delivered in formats that are practical, culturally resonant, and sustainable.
Equipping caregivers who already have a strong relationship with vulnerable children is a faithful, impactful, and sustainable way to embody justice and mercy.
Because of you, caregivers aren’t just learning information. They’re experiencing healing themselves—and becoming agents of healing for others.
Saru’s Story: From Wounded to Walking Others Toward Freedom
One caregiver—let’s call her Saru—attended a RiverCross Summit in Harare.
Saru carried her own story of deep pain. After losing her parents at a young age, she was raised in an abusive environment. Like so many, her trauma didn’t just disappear—it followed her into adulthood.
But during the RiverCross training, something shifted in her heart. Through the Bridge to Freedom audio drama, Saru began to see her story differently. She found language for her pain.
She began to process what she had carried for years. And slowly, healing began.
This is what happens when the Gospel meets trauma-informed care. As Saru experienced healing, something else began to grow—purpose. She started volunteering at a local school, using Bridge to Freedom to lead conversations with children who were carrying their own hidden pain. And because Saru had walked through it herself, the children trusted her. She didn’t just teach. She listened. She created a safe space. One by one, children began to open up. Stories that had been buried came into the light. Shame began to loosen its grip. And healing started to take root.
Jesus Is the True Bridge to Freedom
We are so thankful that Jesus transforms lives. He sees every unseen child carrying trauma. He restores what has been broken. And he brings light into the darkest places.
And through your partnership, children are not only finding emotional healing— they are being introduced to the love of Jesus, the only one who can truly make them whole.
